About

Meet Amy: experienced lawyer, advocate and negotiator.

I am a native Oregonian, having grown up in Tualatin, Oregon on a small hobby farm. I graduated from West Linn High School, earned my Bachelor of Arts (History) from the College of Idaho and received my Doctor of Jurisprudence from Willamette University College of Law. I began my legal career in Klamath Falls in 1995 in a small general civil practice. Some 25+ years later, I have returned to Klamath Falls to pick up where I left off. In between, I was first an associate attorney with the law firm of Holly Hummel & Associates before becoming a shareholder in Hummel & Barnhouse, P.C. Ultimately, I became the managing shareholder of Hummel & Barnhouse, P.C. until 2012.

My practice has centered on civil law including business law, employment law, contracts, real estate, land use, landlord tenant law, fair housing and discrimination law, trusts and estates and banking law.  I have experience in civil litigation, having successfully tried thousands of eviction matters as well as other types of civil cases. I have significant experience in dispute resolution including negotiation, mediation and arbitration.

From early 2012 to late 2020, I took a hiatus from the practice of law to teach law at Federation University Australia. I taught introductory law courses as well as dispute resolution courses to business students. In December, 2020, I moved back to the United States to return to the practice of law.
